noneMemberThere are three types of fly fishermen:
1) Those who fishes only with modern graphite rods
2) Those who fishes only with bamboo rods
3) Those who mostly fish with graphite rods but ocassionally fish with bamboo (or glass)I own a couple of bamboo rods which I like to fish when the conditions are right: nice calm weather and smallish to medium sized streams. I like to take my bamboo out for a nice relaxing day. Eventually I’ll still go after every fish and seam I can get my hands on!

MemberI know of quite a few anglers who fish with nothing but cane on the spring creeks in WI & MN.

MemberI fish with both but prefer bamboo. I love the way bamboo feels in the hand and the slower cadence of casting. It’s a perfect marriage for my reason to fly fish, to slow down and relax.

Member🙂 Love my bamboo rods. I fish them mostly in PA. and never travel with them. I just don’t trust the airlines. Once you get used to the cadence of the rod you don’t want anything else. I have 2 5wts. and 1 4 wt. as well as a 3 wt. Just lovely .S.D.

Cameron MortensonMemberWelcome wolfy…we need more fiberglass fans around here…
If you are not aware of the site…it is a nice group of anglers that fish, build, and appreciate glass rods…

MemberI’m new here but had to jump in. I’m the opposite in that I occasionally fish glass or graphite. Most of our rods, (My wife fishes too), tend to be bamboo. I did just get a very sweet McFarland 7’, 3 piece, three weight however, and really enjoy it. As far as bamboo goes, the Somerset Show was a killer and I purchased this from a friend of mine who is a builder, Bill Taylor from Boiling Springs, Pa. It’s a 6’9” 2/2, three weight. It casts a very sweet 3TT.

MemberHey guys! This is my 1st post and an appropriate thread for it. I only fish cane, anyweather, any kind of fish. I have an old Pezon Parablic for bass and larger trout fishing and a Orvis Battenkill for w/DT5 for just about everything else. Man, it’s good to see people getting into cane again! I’ve built a few graphite rods for people and lately I’ve been thinking about a cane blank… Anyway good to be on this forum!
