I cast this rod in a parking lot and liked it a lot.  However, in the past parking lots have sold me a few rods that I didn’t like on the water.

So I’d like to know how the G2 906 fishes in real conditions – wind, streamers, nymphs/shot, roll casting, etc.  Has anyone fished the 906?

In short, I’m looking for a more versatile heavy trout rod to fit between my 8’8″ 5-wt G2 and my 9’0″ 6-wt T&T Helix saltwater rod (which is really a 7-weight IMO).  This rod’s primary purpose would be nymph and streamer fishing on big western water, but I’d like to be able to lay down a semi-sneaky 30′ cast during a hatch if necessary and actually be able to feel the dang rod load.  My Helix can’t do that.

    Thanks!

Maybe not the answer you would have seen, but just to illustrate you what you might expect.

I cast both the G2 885 and the 905. The difference in feel was quite remarkable. The 885 felt much softer than the 905 which felt much more stouter or more authority if you understand what I mean. I think the 906 might feel about the same but with even more oomph than the 905.

Thanks Mike and Yellowsally, that is exactly what I was hoping to read.
