Zach, unless you are fishing flats only you might consider a intermediate sinking SW line…

I don’t specifically target jacks or sharks, but will jump at the opportunity it they present themselves.

Sometimes Jacks can be a blast to catch and land on a fly.  Especially good if the weather is bad and the bonefish are deep mudding.  I’ve never targeted them specifically but I understand clouser’s are pretty good.

Little Jack on a bonefish slider, like said above he tore the fly apart.

    Zach,

If you go after bigger jacks and sharks, stick with the elephant gun.

    Zach,

I sometimes pick up Jack Crevalle fishing for snook and red’s in the flats south of Marco. They are kinda like a little Permit. Really feisty for their size. We use a lot of purple EP’s in 2/0. Snook like them and there isn’t a big glob of lead to break your rod. Eight weight’s are fine. If your friend can throw a normal saltwater taper floater 80 feet or so, he should be okay. I use an Orvis redfish I think its called.

Try fishing the beach at high tide especially early in the morning. Watch for stingrays if you get in the water. Walk the beach about 10 feet back and watch for snook running the slot parrallel to the beach. You can usually see them coming. They will be spooky though.

Naples beach off Port Royal liiks like this,

I actually caught a real live Permit off that beach. Really rare. Most people would say “you really caught a Pompamo,”
