Well, sort of πŸ˜‰ 1923 Ford Model T.. 0 to 60 in … about an hour and a half Β πŸ˜› I was going to wait until they restored this fine piece of Americana but the more I looked at it, the more I liked the character of it; as is. Such a cool car really.

Ben…that vehicle does have character to it…much like a vintage reels with patina in the finish.

I agree Cameron, something about natural patina that really does define the character in a way that no amount of polish can define. The more I looked and admired the natural aged character of this car, the more that I wanted an image of it.

What, no one wants to call it cheating πŸ™‚ Here is your chance πŸ˜‰ We have had some really great threads on here lately and I have always taken the side that the future of photography isn’t just in the software but more along the lines of shooting for the Graphic Designers or for a pre-planed workflow. Granted this is a very simple illustration of what I have been talking about and if it were for an actual publication use, I would of done this a bit differently.

I am hesitant about posting this image as it really does look like crap. However, with a preconception and plan of composite build, an affordable image can be created in the software. Still, it is photography, in my book, as the image of the car was shot with the intention of creating a pre mapped out work flow. I know that more work need to be done on the car and that it isn’t the cleanest image but I figured that I would put my but on the line to better illustrate my opinions on the future of digital photography, from a publication stand point. A very strong balance between good originals and good graphic design.

A little side note: David King: I really do like you and like your opinions, don’t hold back on me, my friend, as I really do like your takes on things πŸ˜‰

I take it that you mean the original? Guess that leaves me with a bit of egg on my face Β πŸ˜€ Β I didn’t like the original at all, the lighting and everything around the car is way off and I really hated the distractions, but that doesn’t mean that the processed image has to be any better, guess it could be worse.

Why I say it feels right is the distractions. The fire hose is a little distracting but cool and old like the car. Some of the spots on the floor make it look like it might have an oil leak – But the car is old and cool and should have leaks and squeaks – and that is the charm. The original photo tells a little more story to me. That is really what I look for in a photograph – the story. BUT… I touch up product shots all day and it makes me really appreciate natural photos.

I don’t mind egg on my face though, it keeps me humble and makes me want to look at things in a different way as well as forces me to always keep learning. I am no where near a graphic designer or graphic artist but I do love learning and using the software. I get your points and agree, thanks for making them. I seemed to have gone the opposite way in this image but I think it is because I get such a big kick out of creating fog ;D. I am going to go through some of my archived backgrounds and see if I can take the image into the direction that you noted.

Like I said, this image is just something that I wanted to have for myself. Don’t get to touch and shoot these pieces of Americana everyday…

…don’t forget to top off the right front tire, it looks a little low. πŸ˜‰

LOL I did top it off but it decided that it would have no part of that sort of inflation πŸ˜‰
