Have been fishing a few different spots around Val d’Isere in France for the last few days. I’ve been trying to catch some char but haven’t had any joy yet. The water here is crystal clear in the streams and rivers makes it easy to spot the fish but they can see you as well. Caught some rainbows and brownies. The rainbows were stocked into the rivers but they have naturalised and are great fun to catch. Will have some pictures towards the end of the week. This lake I’m told had char in it but I didn’t catch any. Worked up a bit of a sweat getting up to it around 2800m high and very hot made it tricky.

Here is one of the fish caught. Their colours are quite pale in comparison to the Irish trout. The river shot is jus before there was a water release upstream and flooded the whole river so no more fishing today.

I caught this rainbow with very dark colouring. It was almost black compared to the other rainbows which were all very silvery with a faint pink stripe. I have not caught too many rainbows before is there any reason that this fish was much darker than the others?
