InactiveLast week was my first time ever stepping foot on Alaskan soil and I must say I was not disappointed. Thanks to KB’s new life there, the trip was affordable, even for a working, family stiff like myself. We had a great week and the weather did a 180 from what they have had all summer.
Nothing like starting the week off with a little Corn Hole to loosen everyone up.
The weather cleared just in time for takeoff. An hour+ flight down the Turnagain Arm to Whittier. Glaciers, Dall Sheep, and a great sunset lighting up the Chugach.
A nervous tension was in the air as we started the holiday by picking up the cataraft.

A couple of hours later we had settled into our cabin for the week and were off for an afternoon of Dolly’s and Bow’s. This was the biggest rainbow that came to hand that day… somewhere over the 2 foot mark.

Death was an eerie and ever present theme for the whole week. At this point in the season, most of the salmon were pushing for just a few last times with those big, powerful tails.
Day 2 had us up early and assembling the boat in a slight spit of precipitation. Before we knew it we had pushed off into the glacial blue water.
One of the nicest Dolly’s of the trip was boated that day.
A taste of the finery for the week.
The big man always had an encouraging word ready for those that needed it.
Another fatty with a distended belly full of eggs.
The down time was always appreciated.
One of the most breathtaking places I have ever been…let alone fished.
Hit the town for a good hot meal out and to get the latest word.
And look what we found!
The next day we had some company move in on us.
Every once in a while a pinch to remind me where I was
Autumn is closing in fast on the 49th.
A “Long Ride Home”…
** As a footnote I would like input as to why my photos show up so pixelated.

I see you made it to The Spit…..and caught a glimpse of the Time Bandit………Neat! Did you have a chance to eat any razor clams?
