    Well –

I wasn’t going to post this here, but I’ve decided I should – as folks who love the outdoors and photography, I think you’ll appreciate this.

As ya’ll know, we had our own issues with Ike – in fact we’re moving soon in part because of the mess ’round here. But, our losses were insignificant when compared to those folks on the Bolivar Peninsula.

Like Katrina, like Rita, Ike literally wiped places off the map.

Small towns in Texas that were home to permanent residents and weekenders alike disappeared in some cases, and in other cases things are so badly damaged that it’ll be a wonder if anyone will want to return.

I went down to help my falconer friend who lived out there – we tore out rotting carpet, threw out his desks, mattresses, clothes, shoes – it was a repeat of what we did here, but much, much worse.

    But, we got it done.

Anyway – here are the photos now.

And – last year I shot the Stingaree Music Festival – a true Texas classic hosted by Hayes Carll. To get a sense of how wack, weird, and cool this place was, have a gander at this: http://www.hayescarll.com/#/mediaplayer.aspx?mid=770

And finally, a couple sets of my work from the Festival – you can blast through most, but I post the links so you can see how much joy existed there – before – before Ike.

I’ll close with this; things there suck, but the human spirit never ceases to amaze me – they’re working at it, and they’re coming back. I’m off to lend a hand again this week – will likely shoot a little, but I’ll leave that up to my falconer friend.
