    Hi All,

I’m interested in horseback riding up to the 3rd Meadow of Slough Creek in early September for a day of fishing.  Can someone recommend an appropriate company, outfitter, individual??

I’ve contacted Slough Creek Outfitters but, have not heard back from them yet.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions, warnings, ect would be apprecitated!!

    BIG THANKS!!

    Lou

    Hey Lou –

Still unclear on why you’re both Lou and Dan, but either way I think you’ll have a great time.

    Lou-Dan or Dan-Lou

Contact Walter Wiess or Richard Parks at Parks Fly Shop in Gardiner, MT http://parksflyshop.com.  If anyone know how to get you to the Sough Creek 3rd Meadow in Sept, Walter or Richard will.

There’s an outfitter in Cooke City that will take you there. For the life of me I can’t remember their name but you might be able to get it by searching Cooke City. horesback outfitters are going in there all the time. I’ve hiked in already but wouldn’t recommend that. I usually just walk into the 2nd meadow. The ranch that’s up past there is the only one allowed to use carriage/wagon etc,to get back and forth.
Have fun, there’s outstanding fishing to be had there.
    Best,
    Steve

The 3rd meadow is hike-able in a day if you pack food and water and you’re in good shape.

I just noticed that the Park has implemented voluntary restrictions on a number of creeks…Slough was one of them.

I saw that to and it concerns me. I’m headed that way next week. I have noticed the high temps this week have been low eighties in Cooke City with a chance of showers.

    Fingers remained crossed.

My Brother in law and I spent a couple of nights at the Slough Creek Campground and hiked into the first meadow the last week of June.

I’ve walked into the second meadow twice, not a bad walk, but I constantly live at 700′ not 7000 ish 😉 so either get in super shape or be prepared to possibly get winded a time or two.

My daughter and I did it 3 years ago the end of July. Even if you don’t catch no fish, which I’d think would be hard to do the scenery will blow you away.

I’d like to fish the canyon between the first and second meadows.
