MemberAfter coming unbuttoned with a 30-35″ tiger last weekend, I finally found my first musky on the fly. I can’t imagine what the take of a 40″+ fish would be like after seeing what the smaller ones are capable of. I think this could spark a new addiction…

MemberMore like year of the (giant) popper!
Bite off – I will no longer fish 60lb fluoro as a bite tippet.

Success (sorry for the bad self timer photo).

MemberNice Work TP!
Shoot I been having issues with bite-offs this season too…
Had a big gal saw through night before last…heartbreaking. But I’ll just see what happens…who knows maybe I’ll convert to some form of wire…doubt it though!
I live for the take mostly. But it is heartbreaking to hook up and have a cut-off. Really kills the buzz!!
Here are some recent snaps from Musky Country…enjoy…

Hate to admit it but summer is setting up here in Musky Country.
It’s been a good one…juicy as Hell!
Lucky just scored his second hat trick of the season last night…he’s been on fire and I’d put him up against any musky stick anywhere…Period! BTW – That is fish #56 in da boat for the season…not too shabby :cool2010 has been a wet and a hot one…lots of extreems…

lots of this kind of stuff…and this…

I can not recall a season where I had to pull over and seek shelter, bail and endure all day soakings more…
That is alright…cuz that kind of stuff leads to this kind of stuff…

And this kind of stuff then follows if you are living right…

Of course there is a great deal more to it than just the fish…but everyone likes some Porn eh?
Lots of visits from friends, family and in one case Royality :bow

Yup, we have hosted clients, relatives, friends, newspaper folk, film makers…so called ‘important’ people and mostly the common man…but Tom Bie from The Drake visiting Musky Country really gave us the warm fuzzies :cheerThe Chief is alwright…

Although he did start something with my Gal…And he did have quite a few odd requests…

He liked to be parked in the shade along the riverbank in order to bark out his orders to the assorted underlings that he constantly deals with…Truth is he is a simple fella…and he was sooo happy catching a whole bunch of muskies…look at that grin :Roll Eyes

We had a good time Chief…hope you did too…see Ya back soon! :cool

From here on out it is anyones guess as to what is in store for the Musky Tribe.

My season has been utterly fullfilling. Angling and angling friends have gotten this fellow through a very tough time recently…and I can see light at the end of the tunnel…
A little of this…

And a little of that…

And everything lines up real swell.
So keep in touch…we got a lot of water to fish and a lot of season left…what we call The Tenderloin Time…
We’ll continue scouting and opening up new waters…that’s been the theme thus far in 2010 – New Horizons and New Waters!

Oh, I almost forgot…keep yer eyes peeled for a cool new film project this autumn…

MemberThe bite-off thing has me intrigued.
I’ve been fishing 30 lb wire with one smallish fish to show for it and a few pike, but recently switched to 80 lb fluoro because it’s looking like the status quo (for gear and fly) anymore.
Any comments on the wire vs fluoro thing?
I think this debate will never end as long as people are fishing fish with big teef.

MemberFor me the bite off issue is not so much one of never getting taken…it’s a matter of fishing as pure and true as I am able…and living with the agony of defeat when it happens.
Not that flouro is any less manufactured than wire mind you.

MemberI have seen wire fail and I have seen flouro fail. It’s part of the game. It breaks your heart it does but that is musky fishin’.
just my 2 cents 😀
Well put.
