Well…we made our third trip in seven weeks up to N.C. and on each trip I expect a nice cold day on the water only for it to be a little to warm for a fall fly fishing trip.
After a summer of fishing mostly fiberglass rods on the pond, lake, and river…I broke out the green stick (Winston LT 8’4″ four weight) and fished tandem midge rigs all day. Water was a little lower than expected but we were all able to touch a few…and of course had our hearts broke a few times as well by brute trout on light tippets and tiny hooks.
This rainbow was my personal best for the day…an honest 20 inches…and fell to a size 22 black krystal flash midge.
Maybe there should be a “*” beside it since I am sure a pellet or two has fallen into this river.
