The sad part is that this will probably encourage other ill prepareds

    Wow sounds cool.

It reminds me a bit of a story I ran across a few years ago and followed for a while as they live blogged it.

    http://www.bumfuzzle.com/

Two similarly ill-prepared 20 somethings and a catamaran on a trip around the world, what could go wrong? They made enough money selling a condo in Chicago to buy a catamaran and sail around the world having only taken a weekend sailing course on lake Michigan. They made the trip but did most of it under power, not sailing.

Totally right about that website Zach…what a mess.

Nothing I love more than two trust fund babies trying to assert their rugged individualism through self proclaimed Costanza’esque feats of strength…only to make millions in 5 years on a hollywood movie.

    Tim,

    Exactly what I thought.

Who loans two 19 year old kids 90,000???

For all thats wrong with the story,- ill prepared kids venturing through hostile eniroments – who can’t admire the stones it took to undertake such a thing?

You could offer me millions up front and I still might not do it.

Dog sled and ski through Greenland?
    Bike from NY to patagonia.
Surive a rolled boat on route to Antartica

Say what you want about the folley of two teens attempting such a thing. Its something, or its the essence of something most may day dream about. And its something few in the world would be be willing to try, let alone actually do rather than just dream about some grand adventure from the safety of a couch.

If they make millions off it. Good on em.

More power to them, but I have to say when I read it I thought at least half of it was BS.
