    Charlie, there is one way you can test yourself before you buy the 1wt rod. Well… sort of ::)

    here is my way… I bought a 1wt line (SAGE DT1) and try to cast it with 3wt-8wt rod I have…
    it is amazingly “Castable”, actually it is kind of fun when people tell you” no… you can not do that”.
    Manage the little line in the wind actually have a lot of fun… I do love it and they did generate a /bullet/cannon/ laser beam

    Another suggestion on rods – check into a St. Croix Legend Ultra.  Come in 7’6″ 2 wt. and a 7’9″ 3 wt.
