MemberHi all,
Interesting season opener for some buddies and I in NZ, not least of which was our good mate Tim Angeli catching what is possibly the ugliest trout in NZ.
No doubt Tim wil post a full report later but in the meantime see if you can beat this for one f&*%ed up looking fish – it had more overbite than a Simpsons’ character! Probably fitting that the man with the mullet caught it…. 😉Oct 10, 2011 at 8:32 pm #50201Jack Kos
MemberWow… Almost makes Tim look pretty by comparison.

MemberBtw Hamish, great photos in FortyOneDegrees!
Cheers Jack… ditto!
PS – Good comments about the OS angler licence on ‘you know where’. Be interesting to see if our US friends would feel so aggrieved by it…

Joel ThompsonMemberTim are you Really sporting a mullet? Good for you mate!
My guess is that fish swam to close to Tim’s smelly feet… 😀

Someone had to say it. My guess is the US reaction would be entirely different given that a number of States already employ non-resident licenses. That and they don’t assume ownership of our wee slice of paradise to quite the same extent. Â ;D Possibly a topic worthy of its own thread.

MemberBetter question.. is how did he loose half his hair.. oops, I mean face, and continue to eat and maintain that size? Â Pretty adaptable these wild animals are. Â
Good question Eric. We were truly astounded it was in such great condition — aside from the seriously messed up face (and hair do… oh, we’re talking about the fish) it was an exceptional specimen.
Here’s another shot of ‘Franken-fish’ seeing as it seems to be generating a bit of interest.

The Itinerant AnglerMy guess is he was basically a filter feeder.

MemberI think that’s a congenital deformity, not some kind of injury, so he would have lived with it his whole life and presumably adapted.
Zach
No, I’m pretty sure that’s a relatively new hair do Tim’s sporting. Â ;D

Joel ThompsonMemberAs a former mullet guy I can assure you that you should keep up the harassment! Some things should stay in the Eighties….

MemberWe got ugly fish in Tennessee, wife caught this smallmouth on a float last Thursday where Mulberry Creek (the creek that runs through Lynchburg by Jack Daniels Distillery) enters the Elk River.
