Wader recommendations.

I’m in the market for a new pair of waders. Been looking at the Patagonia Watermasters. Anyone have a pair? I’m open to suggestions.

I find that there are waders in all $ ranges and they all do the same thing admirably.
Some will leak despite you spending $400 and up, while you might get a pair under $200 that will last you multiple seasons without any problems.
Find your budget and get what fills the bill in that range and enjoy them. I find that secondary to all this is buying from a company with great after purchase support.

I’ll second the Simms G3s.  They’re expensive, but I’ve beat the hell out of them and they aren’t much worse for wear, aside from the shredded gravel guards.  You might want to look into the Simms Guide Wader, which they are now re-releasing after not offering it for a few years….it’s basically a G3 without the (unnecessary) bells and whistles.  Their customer service is great too.

I have two pairs of waders, simms g3’s which i beat the daylights out of, and knock on wood have not had to even touch them with aqua seal or anything (i’ve had them since 2005) and Orvis proguide II’s which are my backup waders.

Waist highs are something I need to look into… I rarely pull my Watermasters up except in dead of winter.

I have a pair of Albrights and some from Cabelas. They do the job admirably. I paid 30 bucks for the Albright waders. The Cabelas models were a gift from a friend. I have been wearing the Albrights for the last 3 or 4 years. I wear them about 2 days a month. I do not push through brush in them at all. I save that chore for the Cabelas waders because they were given to me in a leaky stake. I used aquaseal to patch them. I had to use about half a tube because there were so many holes. They work fine. I did try some Simms waders and thought they were nice, but I just couldn’t justify the cost. I figure I’ll save my money for more important gear.- I wear these brearthable waders year round. I just layer up underneath the things with fleece during snowy weather.

I do have a pair of Simms, and I like them, but they fit me a little big. So, they go to “the old man”.

I used Patagonia SST’s for 5 years and patched them up so much that it seems the entired insides are aquaseal.

Just ordered a pair of watermasters the other day. I’m very excited.

I have been wearing Orvis pro guides for several years and am frustrated with the shoulder strap system-which keeps coming undone. I had to have anglers next to me re-attach them several times last night.

Never heard any complaints about Simms waders.

I wear a pair of Simms as well and sadly, I look like a sausage in them but that is not the fault of the waders.

I have had them for a year and if something happens to them I will buy another pair.

Loved my Cloudveil wader pants. The main reason was that they are PERFECT for small streams that you maybe would go past your knee in. Rolling fulls down always proved to be a pain and kind of awkward. People don’t look at you as funny wearing waist highs when you walk into Sheetz since they kind of look like pants
