All the new gear will be unveiled this week.

Curtis BiasMemberWish I could be there to see the sights. Guess I’ll settle for a virtual experience. Get the skinny on the new rods from Sage and Scott, and the beef on the new BVK reel from TFO. I would also like to get some feedback on the reels from Cheeky. Just be sure to wear your shades when you approach the Cheeky booth. The reels are bright!

MemberGot one of the new BVK reels (the 5/6) last weekend, and while I haven’t yet spooled it up and fished it, it is light, has a great deal of drag adjustment latitude and is darn pretty.

Tim AngeliMemberI’m interested to hear what new switch rods are coming out from any of the companies, if you get the chance.
Cheers,

Curtis BiasMemberThanks Craig. I’ve seen pics of the reel, but wanted to hear from someone who had held the reel in hand. Let me know how it fishes once you hit the water.

MemberTim Scott have launched a new series of two handers called L2H which include 4 switch rods. We’ll have the #6 and 8 pretty soon.

The Itinerant AnglerI threw the L2h in a 13′ 8 weight in the spey pool with a Scandi head and Way Yin telling me what to do. That is a ton of fun.

MemberNice to see the Sage ONE’s win best new rod in both fresh and saltwater. I’ve had a 5 and a 6 for a few weeks but haven’t had a lot of opportunity to play with them as I’ve been travelling and teaching casting. I’ve had these two rods at all the shows I’ve been doing and a lot of people have been able to have a cast with them. In the process of doing these shows I have of course had my hands on a very wide range of other rods from many different makers. Yesterday, late in the day I got to go back to the ONE’s, especially the 5 and the WOW factor was very very high. š

The Itinerant AnglerMorsie –
I threw the One in 5 and 8 weight and they were both really nice. Ā There is an additional accuracy factor; I am not a particularly accurate caster and I definitely noticed an improvement. Ā The 5 and 8 both strike me as standout fishing rods; they didn’t have the mega-distance backbone that some recent Sages have had (the casting competition was won by Brian O’Keefe with a 108′ cast on an eight weight One, which is on the short side for him), but they are exceptional rods from 20-60 feet and can certainly get it done on the long side.

MemberZach, casting two handers with Way is always good fun. Looking forward to seeing the L2H . I agree the line between European Spey casting and skagit is starting to blur these days.
Tim in not going to the film festival as I’ll be out of town, I’ll let you know when the #6 switch arrives so we can take it for a cast.

The Itinerant AnglerZach, did you have a chance to checkout the Hardy āUltraliteā Fly Reel? I see it won best of the show for freshwater reels.

MemberWhat is going on with the midcurrent site?
It is really hard to find the IFTD articles there.

The Itinerant AnglerDiablo Paddlesports had a pretty sweet standup paddle board, but like many companies’ offerings it was halfway to being a skiff.

Best Regards,

The Itinerant AnglerI believe almost all Hardy reels are made in Korea now and have been for a couple years.
