I headed down to Costa Rica last week to visit a good friend and do some fishing.  Unfortunately, the weather was unseasonably bad due to a big system sitting just off shore and sending in bands of torrential rains and huge surf.

The surf meant that the rivermouths were impassable, so tarpon fishing was out, but we managed to salvage the trip by fishing the backcountry lagoons for Mojarra, Guapote, and Machaca.

Not as many pics as I would’ve liked, due to the near-constant rain, but we got a few windows of decent weather in between the downpours.

Glad you were able to make a go at it despite the bad weather. I love the third pic of drift boat and guide poling. Great report Matt.

Great report. I went a few years ago but didn’t get to do any inshore/inland fishing. From the looks of your fish, that’s definitely something I would like to pursue if I get the chance to go down there again.

Real good stuff…  Nicely salvaged trip. I had a similar experience in FL recently. Weather can be a bitch! 😉
