After poking around on the board this week, I realized that it has been a while since I have offered some original content.  Given the time of year, I spent some time thinking about my 2009 fishing year and what I was really thankful for.

It boils down to this.  I have been really lucky to do some great fishing this year.  A spring trip to Montana, with stops at DePuys, the Yellowstone, the Gallatin, and others.  A summer trip back home to Minnesota for some big bass on flies.  And, an incredible trip through Wyoming this fall, where one of my best buddies and I bummed through the mountains and completed the Wyoming Cutt-Slam.

But what I am most thankful for is my new home.  After a year on the road my family re-located to the mountains of South-Central Colorado, where I now live minutes from the Arkansas River.  So, I went out to fish for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving day and gave thanks to all things local . . .

While the last pic isn’t something local, I am certainly thankful for the new trend of good beer in cans.  After all, what could be better for fishing?

    Happy Holidays,

    Jay

    Thanks Neal and Corey.

Dave, the quad is one of my own.  A 7’9″ 4wt that I finished this past spring.  A taper design of my own as well, which turned out to be a really nice stick.  I have hoped to make a few more quads, but the ferrules are a pain in the butt.  So, until I get that situation straight, I am making more hexes these days.

    Cheers,

    Jay

Thanks again all.  Dave, I have a couple of rods that are going to be finished in the next month or so, I will post some more pictures.  The most exciting one so far is an 8′ 5wt hollow built that is going in the varnish tank shortly.  Here is what the inside of the blank looks like.

I love the Grangers.  I know a guy in town with a W&M Granger 8040 that still has the plastic on the grip.  Can’t seem to get him to part with it  😉

    Cheers,

    Jay
