David AndersonMember๐ Finally, a new work/fishing 4×4 !
This is the new NT diesel Pajero (I think because that means ‘wanker’ in spanish – they’re called something else in the US ? ;D)
Im getting new suspension with a couple inches lift on monday and will be getting a snorkel as soon as ARB make one for this model.Pity it’s winter, because I can’t wait to go fishing in it !

MemberA truck that means wanker in Spanish-I need one of those, lol.
I have owned a few cars that I am pretty sure the name could be translated into P.O.S.
Looks like a nice vehicle.
I miss my s.u.v. type of vehicle. I sold my Jeep shortly after I bought a new truck in 2003. My wife’s completely emasculating to drive mini van will be paid off shortly and I am thinking about buying myself – uh, I mean my 16 year old daughter – another s.u.v. They make the best fishing vehicles for sure and they are a little easier on the wallet at the pump.
Nice Ride, who makes it?

David AndersonMemberIt’s a Mitsubishi.
They’re called Pajero here, and Shogun in England – and maybe Montero in the US ?The engine (can’t compete with the Dodge ;D) is a 3.2 ltr. 4 cyl. with 147 Kw’s and 441 Nm or torque.
(I think that’s around 200hp and 325 ft. pounds)
It’s early days but it’s supposed to get around 35mpg’s on the open road. This is my 4th diesel 4×4, though it’s been 4 years since the last one – I forgot how much noise proper off-road tires make.

Member“Wanker” is a very useful pejorative, a bit like the “f” word and “bastard”. You can use it in many situations, from ribbing a mate for buying a girly off road vehicle instead of a Toyota Landcruiser, to getting yourself in a real stink. Multiple use of pejoratives across the spectrum of discourse is an Australia speciality.

David AndersonMemberNeedless to say I’ll wear a disguise if I get to ride in a “Paj”. ย ๐

I seem to remember a few 8 hour drives where you had NO problem being seen in the nice comfy Volvo.. ;D ๐
I bet when we get out in the Pajero you complain more about the lack of heated seats than the lack of Landcruiser.. ๐

What is a snorkel?
Jun 1, 2009 at 1:15 am #38490Morsie
MemberWill, I drive a 1989 Landcruiser with 370,000 k’s on the clock and its so butch Chuck Norris WISHES he had one!!!!!! I need to take a teaspoon of cement powder every time I go driving so I can harden the f*@k up to deal with the absence of suspension.
The Volvo was at least a little eccentric and like Will I felt a certain uniqueness in knowing someone who owned one, let alone went fishing in one, and he was a rock star photographer as well!!!. Dave I loved your story about Rachael driving a friend home one night in the Volvo who’d had too much to drink. After a few minutes of sitting on the heated front seat she thought she’d peed herself.
I hope the Pajero can handle gravel roads ย ;D ;D ;D ๐ ::)
A snorkel is a waterproof extension of the air intake that goes up to the roof of the cabin. It means you can drive the thing underwater (because its a diesel).
