MemberI am lucky enough to live 15 minutes from Roaring River State Trout Park in southwest Missouri, so the gas didn’t have a great effect on me.

Bob RigginsMemberI live within 5 miles of some of the best saltwater flats in the state, use a kayak and haul it on the top of an Outback (25+ MPG). So yes, my fishing has been affected. There are a lot fewer stinkpots on the water. ;D

MemberGas prices are not affecting my fishing because I live really close to everything that I could want, but getting to work is killing me!!!!!I live 60+miles round trip from work and my Nissan Sentra commuter finally but the dust last week. Driving

MemberI like were I live in relation to a great stream. I’m only 18 miles from the river and I can get there in 25 min. Gas has dropped to $3.29 for premium. It’s not too bad to pay for peace and tranquility and some nice fish. And the car gets good milage. 🙂 I’m off to Italy next week and I know I’m going to get bruised with the price of gas in Europe. ??? ; Will fill you in when I get back. ;D Silver Doc

MemberI have been told to get a K&N, I think that’s the name. Anyway I need it, I currently get ~12mpg. I have a 03 GMC 2500 truck (no hd=no deisel)…it takes a couple of hundred $ to drive anywhere but it can haul a boat like it’s not even there. I have been fishing close to home lately b/c college football is in swing.
I believe a K&N will net 3-5 mpgs more than you get now.

Steve K.MemberNow is a good time to purchase a diesel pickup if you can afford the fuel. I’ve been watching a Dodge Ram 3500 with the Cummins Turbo. It’s brand new and has been on the lot for 18 months! The dealer calls me about every two weeks with a “better” offer. Car dealers are hurting right now. Definitely a buyer’s market.
I have changed my fishing habits for sure. Instead of 3 or 4 one-day trips, I’ll just wait and go for a few days at a time to minimize my driving.

MemberLandcruiser & boat stay home except for short trips, I do get some aweful funny looks when I pull up in my commuter vehicle (120 miles + a day).. But it gets a whopping 26-29mpg which so far for a gas powered V-8 is the best ive found, and is über comfortable and drives like a dream, the looks I get when we step out wearing waders or as I shag down gravel roads, well priceless.
slapping down 25 smakers to fill up the tank on the jon boat is a shocker.
Tahoes, yukons, hummers, they can’t move em & here locally the dealers will not accept them as trade INS.
