Jan 10, 2009 at 3:52 am #3816shane cavitt MemberIf you could spend one day fishing with a guide or a fly fishing luminary who would it be and why? Would you choose differently between cold water and warm water? For me I think I would like to spend a day with Dave Whitlock or maybe Denny Rickards or maybe John Barr. John Geirach would definitely be on the short list as would Davy Wotton. I wish I would have had the opportunity to spend a day with Gary LaFontaine. As for Dave Whitlock, has anyone ever attended one of his schools or spent a day fishing with him? Jan 10, 2009 at 4:09 am #33225Mark Landerman MemberHands down without a doubt…………..Bill. Charles F. OrvisJan 10, 2009 at 6:44 pm #33231ben fuller MemberOh how many times I wish I had just one more day of fishing w/my grandfather. Jan 10, 2009 at 10:13 pm #33232spencer ballard MemberGrandpa, died before I was born, he was really into fishing. Jan 10, 2009 at 11:10 pm #33233Grant Wright MemberI’d love to wrangle a few more fish with my grandfather too. Jan 11, 2009 at 2:30 am #33234Juan Ramirez MemberLandon Mayer I am tying at “The Fly Fishing Show” in Denver this week and I just spoke to Landon. They came up with a great clinic. It’s called the “Best of the West”, or something like that, but you sign up for a muliti-day seminer and it includes instruction with John Barr, Clay Roberts, Landon Mayer and Charlie Craven along with one other person. That’s a heck of a line up, so you can fish with a couple greats during that time frame. Shane, I also spoke to Dave Whitlock and John Geirach today. Tomorrow, I can ask them to give you a call and set that up! 😉 Juan Jan 11, 2009 at 3:09 am #33235keith b Memberhow i would love to spend one more day with my uncle and granddad sitting in the boat on chambers county lake catching cats. As for a luminary. I would liketo spend the day with Ted Williams at the Buchanan pocket in Islamorada on a falling tide. I will be waiting to hear from Dave and John. If I miss their call while I am out fishing, tell them to leave a message and I will get right back to them. Would you be talking fishing, or debating pulling the ball versus going with the pitch? Jan 11, 2009 at 11:24 am #33240keith b MemberSince I coach baseball and baseball has been such a large part of my life I am sure we would have long talks about the game between tarpon runs. Jan 11, 2009 at 1:59 pm #33241anonymous MemberI have to say my Dad (deceased) and my Step Grandfather Johnny (deceased). They both used to tell me stories of spear fishing for barracuda and how they used my Grandmother (deceased) and all her very shinny and sparkly jewelry for bait. There are no two people, three if you count the bait, I would rather spend one more day on the water with. Jan 11, 2009 at 2:14 pm #33242kevin miquelon MemberOne person from anywhere – my deceased Grandpa Sunstrom…one of my heroes. One person from the FF community? Have to be Lefty Kreh – on his home waters. Kevin Miquelon Jan 11, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33243Ian Crabtree MemberTim Pommer Dont do it, I’ve tried it. Good point. Zach Matthews?
