Seriously guys, if you own one of these or are considering buying one, listen to Paul Kabalin’s podcast interview. He explains a lot of things I doubt you’d have any exposure to, like why you don’t want to use dry ice in your cooler in an enclosed space like an RV (you’ll die), or the challenges of designing a cooler to be stood on, or techniques for getting the most out of your cooler while also not freeze burning your fish or deer meat.

Paul Kabalin is the CEO of Engel USA, the patent holder on the increasingly popular rotomolded cooler design. Listen to his breakdown of the differences between these and other cooler models, as well as his tips and tricks for getting the most out of yours.

Next week on the show: Mark Giacobba, Everglades guide.

    Cool.

I’m looking forward to this one. My old cooler is on its last leg.

When I work out of town, I drag a cooler around with me.
It gets rode pretty hard. It sits in the bed of the work truck.
It gets exposed to a lot of sun, rain, and mineral oil. It sometimes gets used as a step or a seat too.

It would be nice to find a cooler that could stand up to all of this and not cost an arm and a leg.

Great podcast Zach, a lot of good info especially about freezing coolers. Never would have thought of that. Keep ’em coming.

    Very cool podcast.

Great to hear an ex South African on the show, and even better to see him do so well with his products.
