Mar 13, 2009 at 12:44 pm #34471mike ormsby MemberI’ll agree with consensus that Sage needs to get a writer ( Zach?!?!?) and lose the mumbo jumbo; Lamson/Waterworks needs major update; thumbs up to Abel, Fishpond, Simms; for fly shops Leland definitely great site; and I liked Stonefly Inn and 4 Rivers sites. I’d like to nominate a few Canadian sites (OK I’m biased): Michael & Young fly shops, Mar 15, 2009 at 9:43 am #34472 Chad SimcoxMember Chad SimcoxMemberI’ve always found St. Croix to have some of the best photography and design in the Fly Fishing industry. Their site and catalogs have always been a major influence/inspiration to me. Previous designs of my site were much more similar to their look (I wasn’t biting their style, just what I was into at the time). Every time I look at their page I’m reminded I need to step up my game and that I need to take my St. Croix rods out for a stroll on a stream.

I think Albright Tackle is one of the most improved sites over the past few months. Previously it was a pretty weak site, but I really like their new layout and look. Their A logo with the fly looks sick too. I wish their banner image would change with each product. Kind of lame it doesn’t. They should hire me to shoot more photos for them!

(Zach mentioned the lack of this on most site’s) Lamson Waterworks is really a poor website. How do you guys think about linking produkt quality, price and website quality together?
I think a good quality, expensive piece of equipment should be shown on a good website (looking at it from the marketing side).
Could e.a. a poor website like Lamson Wat. make possible customers buy something else?Mar 16, 2009 at 12:08 pm #34474Rob Snowhite Memberis there a website for thingamabobers? i bought a pack of them in breckenridge and they got crushed from the altitude change to here in Va. i’d like to contact them to see how often this occurs and if there is anything i can do about it. i sent them an e-mail and they got back to me very fasttheir site is easy to surf and user friendly-to keep in the topic. A manufacturer whose website is just a flat out miss is William Joseph. The Waterworks guys bought Lamson because they needed a brand and has provided all of the innovation. Waterworks is their elite brand at this point. Winston- incredible site for Greenheads like myself! Where can you discuss every indiviudal rod in a series and get 20 responses? Huge move for Winston to create a Forum section to re-enforce the addiction people have to the “green”. Sage would do well to follow. Huge move for Winston to create a Forum section to re-enforce the addiction people have to the “green”. Not only is it good internet marketing, but again .. It creates a community that keeps people involved with the product! This used to be a quit normal good functioning website. Till i guess a few days ago when they came up with this. It takes much to long for the pages to load even with my 10MBit connection. When you got it in front of you you have to zoom in to see some detail on picss/images that aren’t that sharp. I know the old Scierra website and it was a decent, functional website, I hate what they’ve done to it.
