Sep 9, 2010 at 11:30 pm #5114Andrew Wright MemberMy wife and I spent last week in Ambergris Caye, Belize for an anniversary trip. I was pretty stoked about the trip even before we went down, but I can honestly say that the trip far exceeded both of our expectations. Although the weather is pretty much the same year round, the summer months are the slow season so there was almost no one else around. We stayed in a little cabana right on the water.
The view from the cabana was truly amazing.
And the best part was, I could sit on the front porch and wait for the bonefish to cruise by (which they did)…
We had some pretty cool roommates.
And we pretty much just hung out on the beach and relaxed for the majority of the time. I did fish a day and half with Abbie Marin, the owner of Go Fish Belize. He is for sure one of the most skilled guides that I have fished with and he is passionate about what he does and the waters that he fishes. The boats there are monstrous compared to ours, but incredibly comfortable to fish out of. Note the bench against the console.
He worked his butt of moving that big boat around.
And we did catch fish. A bunch of these….
Countless jacks and few barracudas. And one of these….
It was an incredible trip. Now I just need to figure out how soon I can go back. Sep 10, 2010 at 12:05 am #44783Mike Anderson MemberGreat stuff Andrew! Love those colors on the Permit. I’m headed to Belize for a few days in December but won’t have the time/chance to do any fishing. This is just going to make working a bit harder knowing that there is good fishing around. http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints. http://grainfarmer.vsco.co/ iPhone photos
