Shes on quite a few. If you frequent other boards theres sure to be post. Jul 29, 2010 at 4:43 pm #44249Zach Matthews The Itinerant AnglerWho is the woman? Jul 29, 2010 at 4:47 pm #44250Zach Matthews The Itinerant AnglerDeb Freele; I see she made rounds of the talk shows. Ok, bear spray is going in the bag next year. Jul 29, 2010 at 4:55 pm #44251 John BennettMember John BennettMemberDeb Freele.
Lives in London Ontario ( born in MI). Quite well known in Ontario FFing circles and many outsdoors/FFing sites. Attends alot of shows as well.Uses the board name Mato Kuwapi on a number of site ( translates to chases bears ) Shes a tough oudoors woman..that mostly walks the walk. Shes going to be ok from all accounts..Hopefully no lasting scars other than those on her arm. One account in one of Torontos papers with her FB profile pic incase any of you have met her at shows or something

Jul 29, 2010 at 11:34 pm #44253anonymous Membertrial? Jul 30, 2010 at 12:10 am #44254steve gallas MemberI’ve camped in that campground a number of times when I’ve fished the Beartooth and some favorite waters outside the park..Sorry to hear that has happened.
 Best,
SteveJul 30, 2010 at 12:12 am #44255chris scott MemberFor the record this was outside the park in a National Forest campground. Jul 30, 2010 at 12:34 am #44256 Tim AngeliMember Tim AngeliMemberAnd maybe a .357 Zach, I’d strongly consider going bigger if the main use will be as grizzly deterrent. Jul 30, 2010 at 12:49 am #44257David L. Darnell MemberI’ll take smoke/noise discharge anyday over pepper in my tent, if you weren’t born with a firearm in your hands like I was, get lots of training and be prepared. Jul 30, 2010 at 12:51 pm #44258 John BennettMember John BennettMemberLots of debate all over the web about the change in law allowing firearms in parks. There are those (antis) that are dead fast against it..Only going to result in wildlife killings as people who dont know animal behavior will shoot first, ask questions later is the mantra. Discharge vs Bear Spray?
Famous case of a photographer who litterally lost his face a couple years ago photographing bears..One charged, he was surprised, bear got to him and swiped once before he could use the bear spray. It took his face with him. Then you have nerves of steel under extreme duress
http://videosift.com/video/Crarging-Grizzly-captured-by-B-C-filmmaker?loadcomm=1Think id take the firearm tyvm. Jul 30, 2010 at 2:05 pm #44259anonymous MemberIt has been proven time and time again that pepper spray is a better deterrant than a firearm in the hands of even the most skilled shooter. Jul 30, 2010 at 3:14 pm #44260Mike Cline Membertrial? that’s a dead bear. There are now 4 bears in custody, in Bozeman awaiting DNA testing. Jul 30, 2010 at 4:46 pm #44261Zach Matthews The Itinerant AnglerAt least they’re doing DNA testing. Jul 30, 2010 at 8:01 pm #44262Anonymous InactiveFrom what I have read, you’d better have Johnnie Cochran as your lawyer (sorry Zach) if you kill a bear in a National Park. Not saying it wouldn’t be worth carrying…as I certainly would rather face what sounds like un-ending questioning and possible legal action vs. not seeing my kids again. I have looked at and read alot of stuff on the web and am in the “bear spray” category. Aug 1, 2010 at 9:41 pm #44263jeff s MemberIF it were a bear protection revolver, I think the smallest I’d go would be .44mag, a ..454 Casull or maybe even a .50S&W wouldn’t be overkill. Aug 1, 2010 at 9:49 pm #44264Zach Matthews The Itinerant AnglerIf you shot a bear in the Park that was acting threateningly but not attacking anyone, you’re probably right, Tim. Aug 1, 2010 at 10:38 pm #44265 John WilliamsMember John WilliamsMemberSo where exactly was this attack. I hear Soda Butte Campground and my mind jumps to Pebble Creek but since it was not in the Park proper I’m a little lost. AS for how dangerous bears are just remember bison do more harm every year they just don’t get the sensationalized hype. For those of you who are interested check out Roland Cheeks book Learning to Talk Bear it primarily focuses on the Glacier/Bob MArshall/Scape Goat/Great Bear Wilderness Complex but is great info and a fairly entertaining read.
