Fished the Hampshire Avon and the River Test with Peter McLeod of Aardvark McLeod. Can’t really say enough about how much fun I had and what a great family Peter has – his wife Elisabeth and two adorable kids were a big part of why I had such a blast.
I’m writing about this trip for The Drake so I can’t give a blow by blow, but I did want to share a couple pics with you. Most of the action was on dry flies with a little indicator-less nymphing (so hard!).

I lack the skill set necessary for truly successful grayling fishing — the indicator-less nymph is really important for them. This was a dink; there were some in the 4 pound range in there.

I was waving bye to a couple we had met in the pub, although it turned out to be someone totally different so I was just the weird guy. We caught a number of large browns on dries out of that pool.

Basil Exposition took naps because he wasn’t allowed in the water (neither were we),.

Saving the best stuff for the mag – be sure to watch.
