Thanks to my friend Ken Barre, who is an observant fellow even while turkey hunting, I’ve finally found a bona fide white bass fishery here in Georgia. It’s not easy to get to, but it sure is fun to fish.

    Trusty Gheenoe for getting in.

    Ken with the eyes.

We threw very light fiberglass rods at them and had a blast. You should have seen Ken do a full change from turkey gear to what you see here. I have a feeling he was more excited about the fishing… (rightly so).

I do like sand bass. We’re chasing them on my local lake right now, and they’re schooling in mass – many thousands of them actually. From the skiff, it’s a lot like playing “whack-a-mole” chasing them from blowup to blowup, and looking for birds.
