    Greetings,

I am looking for recommendations for wet wading gear. In the past I have used tennis shoes and socks, but have found that can be dangerous. I have looked at using my standard wading boots, but they can be a little bulky and heavy. Does anyone of boot or shoe recommendations for this style of wading? What else do you use for wet wading? I should specify the I normally fish smallmouth creeks in the Ozarks, but do wet wade some small creeks in the Colorado back country.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,

Personally, I like wearing my boots all the time when fishing (traction/ankle support). A few years ago I purchased Simms neoprene socks and love them. Yes, they are a little pricy but I have walked 10 miles a day in them without issue. Hope this is helpful

I like wet wading with the same boots that I use for my waders. Simms G3 boots with neoprene wading boot socks. Before putting on the neoprene sock I like the Simms wet wading socks. This works great because I usually wet wade in Patagonia or Simms pants made for wet wading.

The wet wading socks help keep the pants legs tucked in instead of being loose over my boot tops. This also helps avoid snagging on brush when hiking between fishing spots.

I typically either use the same Simms neoprene socks that Wayne mentioned, with boots, or I’ll simply wet wade in Chaco sandals. Of note, Fishpond partnered with Chaco this year to release a set of sandals (both flip flop style and the more burly kind) with the Aquaseal style rubber on the bottom for better grip.
