Snakes have been showing up in greater numbers this year then I can remember in awhile. I was hoping to find a Rattler this year while I was hunting with my camera so I was not disappointed today when this guy showed up. My daughter got a good lesson on what a Timber Rattler sounds like when he’s irritated.

Those are really great shots Mike, and I hope you took them with a really long lens.

Thanks Zach, yea I was using a 70-200 from most of the shots. Ive been around snakes and handled them most of my life. I know very well how fast they can be and how far they can reach. I was always at least 10′ from this guy.

Cool shots Mike, though if you ever get down here to Oz, don’t try making models of our snakes..

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

    Thanks!

No worries there David! Timber Rattlers are well known for their mild disposition, unlike some of the species in your neck of the woods.

Again, I was never even remotely close enough to get bit. A good 16mp sensor crops nicely.

These are great shots! I’ve never seen a timber rattler, the markings are quite different from our western diamondbacks.
