I finally got sufficiently annoyed at my old waterproof Pentax pocket camera that I decided to upgrade. (The dead battery and my inability to find where my wife is hiding the charger also played a role in my decision. She is out of town with our kids, so no better time to buy stuff). Plus, I want a camera for an upcoming trip to the beach.
First place I looked for reviews was on here. The advice here is always excellent. (In fact, someone was already asking my precise question, which was very cool). Moving on to B&H, I was considering the reviews for the Pentax http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/755626-REG/Pentax_16926_Optio_WG_1_Digital_Camera.html
According to the B&H reviews, it has either excellent or poor image quality, excellent or poor low-light performance and excellent or poor image stabilization. People mostly loved it. However, a few were very disappointed and returned it. The reviews were so contradictory that I basically ignored them and bought on brand reputation. Maybe they were just expecting too much from a P&S?
Generally speaking, do you bother with consumer reviews on places like the retailers site? Is there anywhere else (other than here) to obtain trustworthy reviews? Just curious. Thanks.
