David AndersonMemberSomething for just mucking around not work – a good fishing option.
Something the size of a Leica M series, but with a view finder and lenses that don’t cost as much as cars.
Something tough and made of metal and with full weather sealing – a camera you could drop and laugh it off.
Maybe a modern digital version of the Mamiya 6 or 7 ?
30+ MP’s and lenses from (35 eqv.) 21 – 135 + macro ?
Probably cost too much ?Wouldn’t be much good for action, but good help you if you couldn’t get kick r’se landscapes !
Or how about a digital version of the old Fuji 6×9’s with a range of lenses ?
Far out, they rocked with film and were light and simple to boot.Maybe I’m just bored ?

Roy ConleyMemberMy personal solution was to get a Nikon D3000, about $300 used, and a 35/1.8 and a 50/1.8 lenses.

MemberDavid, your post makes me think about Huey Lewis and The News and the song, “I want a new drug.” LOL.
Great to hear from you, it’s been a while.

Ben CochranMemberI second Neal in agreeing that it is nice to hear from you again. In case you may have missed me any, lets pick up where we left off… ;D
I have the perfect camera body, one that prefers the mucking for around, my old D700. It is rugged, weather sealed and once I receive your 2 grand—- You can drop it and I’ll make sure to laught it off ;D. Other than this, I got nothing but “good to see ya’s” for offer…. π

Yep, it’s winter, cold, I haven’t been fishing in AGES, have too many kids and am generally bored with cameras – a new drug would help.. ;D
Actually, it’s more about this fantasy I have of fishing in my favourite small stream on a beautiful warm day WITHOUT 250 pounds of camera gear on my back just in case a great photo presents itself.. ::)
Last, I will add, my DSIII’s are now almost as old as I am and the tsunami in Japan has stuffed up the production of any new models anytime soon.

David AndersonMemberI hear your whine David – it has been a long winter/spring Β here as well. Used to have the Fuji GSW 69011 with the 65 mm Fuji lens wicked med format rangefinder camera . Bit like a Leica that ate too many Supersized Big Macs . Must agree a digi version would be a brilliant camera.
I had the original metal 6×7 version with interchangeable lenses and it was brilliant and cheap.
What stops these sorts of cameras now is the price of th emedium format sensors – they need to take a nose dive like full frame 35mm ones have – then we might get some reasonably priced medium format one off’s like the Fuji’s..
Sigh..
Only 3 months till spring.. πwww.dsaphoto.com
