MemberAnyone here using it?
Good, bad, otherwise?
I’m needing to refresh my stock archive machinery and kicking around a couple of different platforms.
Thanks in advance for any guidance. Hope you all are having a great holiday season.

MemberHaven’t used photoshelter, but been using zenfolio for a couple months now, seems pretty good.

MemberBeen using it for about a year or so now. Slowly but surely getting it loaded with my archive.
I recently re-designed my site using wordpress and a graph paper press theme for wordpress. My blog is now fully integrated with my site and photoshelter allows for full configuration on their end with one click, pretty slick.
I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have about my experience with either platform.

J A Y M O R RMemberTosh,
I have been in the process of integrating all of my prints into PhotoShelter.

MemberDitto here — er, that is I’m there, and in the process of still fleshing out exactly how I want the site to be configured.
I went the same path Kurt took; WordPress with a Graph Paper Press theme. It is slick, and while it takes a little getting used to, the learning curve isn’t too bad.
Drop a note (email please) if ya have any questions Tosh.

MemberThanks, All.
I’m also planning to go the Graph Paper blog route once I’ve switched my archive over, but I’m wishing they had a theme that wasn’t so busy with boxes and features and superfluous displays. One thing that I’ve learned over the years about photo websites: clutter scares people away. Especially busy editors and art directors that don’t have a lot of time to look for photos online. Less is more.
Kurt: I noticed that you’ve got the Fotoquote plugin enabled for rights managed sales. Are you getting any nibbles through that program?

MemberTosh –
The ability to license via PS comes standard with the set – just clarifying as it seems from your question of Kurt that perhaps that wasn’t clear to you.
You can also modify any of the themes; simplifying your site layout requires some understanding of how it’s all cobbled together, but it is possible.
ALSO – one thing to keep in mind is that you can cobble together “galleries” from your archive, and submit them to editors, if that’s your druther.

MemberIf I were doing a a good amount of online sales, I’d go with photoshelter. Looks great. They have some very clean (customizable) templates, nice cart system, and wordpress integration. The graphpaper press integration is cool … Does the photoshelter cart system integrate into the graphpaper templates? I didnt think it did. The only downside IMO is the cost. Personally, I find zenfolio adequate for my current needs, which are mainly display and providing high-rez downloads… and its far (relative) less expensive. 😎
edit: that new uno theme is pretty clean 🙂

MemberJust finished the Graph Paper Press/Photoshelter merge.
Thanks, to Kurt, Matt and all for the insights.
Still some style tweaks to play with, but overall I’m pleased with the results.
