I may have missed this, but has anyone lamented the fact that if they have a once top-of-the-line Apple G5 Dual tower, none of the major software upgrades will work on it? I usually skip an upgrade on Adobe Photoshop, and now I see that CS5 along with Aperture will not work on my “old” G5 Dual 2.5! Forget the fact there are no more OS upgrages for the Duals either! What a load. So, we’re all supposed to run out and buy new Intel machines in this economy?

I feel for you man, but Apple did switch to Intel processors back in 2006.  That was five years ago.  Unfortunately, even when you buy top of the line, you can’t really expect your equipment to remain infinitely upgradeable.  I just don’t think the designers can predict the future that well.  Your computer doesn’t have USB 3.0, either, probably doesn’t have an HDMI port or an SD card slot.  The computers they’re making now won’t be able to talk to the 4G cell network in 2016, either, but by 2016 we may take always-on internet for granted.

Sorry man.  At least you got five good years of quality use out of it.

While my Mac has a predetermined lifespan, thankfully my bamboo rods do not!

Guess I will just have to toss my 3-thousand dollar (2005 when a dollar was a … you know) G5 Dual 2.5 in the landfill.

Hey it could be worse. You could have bought a PC that went to the landfill in 2008…

Goodwill and Salvation army no longer take PC computers or non-LCD televisions.

If you’re just going to throw it out then I’d be happy to take it off your hands. I’d even be willing to drive a few hours from Houston to pick it up.

You know the horse “Little Blackie” in “True Grit” … well that’s how it’s going to end for both of my G5 Dual towers.
