Got out for a day last week – steelhead, trout, and an all-around great day.

First fish of the day, a great colored up brown that was hanging behind a huge pod of horny steelhead.

    Second fish, another pretty one.

A rare sunrise shot.  There wasn’t much color like i was hoping for because of the lack of clouds, but it was nice to get some sort of sunrise shot which is hard to do on the PM because of all the highbanks, and leaf cover once things green up.

Finally got those pesky trout to stop hitting the fly long enough for this guy to eat one.

Experimented with some off camera flash after the fishing slowed down, i’d love to hear some feedback on the results.

After the river, stopped by a little lake, and bumped into a couple of these.  A great ending to a great day.

*Sorry about the bad compression, the shots are linked off facebook.

Good stuff Eric! I really like the under exposed background effect w/flash.

I would only suggest warming up the strobe with a gel (1/4 or 1/2 cto) and diffusing it a little.

    Thanks for sharing!
