MemberIf the truth be known, I am a fairly useless fly fisherman – but I love it with a passion, and I reckon I spend around 50% of my working life around fly fishing in some way, shape or form.
When I go fishing myself (with cameras of course), a lot of the time I tend to go lure fishing for our (sea) bass – off rocks, beaches, estuaries etc. The sea has always done it for me in a big way.
UK winter is not the best time for this kind of fishing, but the light and sea conditions were simply incredible on Saturday morning – thought it might be interesting to see what we get up to over here…..

MemberWow, the pictures on here are truly awe inspiring.
It looks like the last shot may have ended with you on the ground, since that right foot came off the rocks.Feb 22, 2010 at 1:09 pm #70437
John BennettMemberLove the last shot Henry

MemberThanks for taking a look – the location is south east Cornwall, close to where I live.
The angler in the photos is a friend of mine – if anything had happened to him with the crashing waves, he would have been knocked off the rocks and simply fallen into a small kind of harbour behind him – ending up fairly safe we worked out. As I said, he’s a good friend, but he knows to worry when I say “I’ve got a good idea”……….he was actually fishing, it’s that I asked him to move a bit to take advantage of the pounding conditions.

Caught some bass that day?

MemberOlle – there were a few fish around, but we did not catch them. Winter is a hard time here for catching (sea) bass on lures, sure it’s the same with you guys ? But just so cool to be out when conditions were going off like that.
I put a blog post up on it here if it’s of interest

Thanks guys for the kind comments……

MemberI feel a bit stupid because I had never come across that Nat Geo “Daily Dozen” thing – and then Jay posted that link to Brett’s awesome tarpon scale shot up there. So I thought why not, give it a shot and see if my crashing wave shot gets up there…………never thought it would to be perfectly honest.
Thanks for flagging it up, really pleased to get a photo up there !!
