    This Podcast is about 3 minutes long. It hits home with me in relation to photography and and even more with fly fishing gear. I have a lot of stuff laying around and more on the way! Brooks Jensen at Lens Work Magazine is the speaker. His sites and magazine are exceptional.

    My list of cameras that I would really like to get my hands on is down to a very few since I’ve made my living as photographer. I would like to work with a Leica Rangefinder for a while. I know how and why to pick a certain shutter speed combination without all the technology getting in the way

    Fly fishing gear… well I fished a lot more when I had less of it but when I do get out I enjoy it more. I have been thinking about getting back to essentials more and getting rid of some of the things that spend a lot of time in the closet. I’m gonna make a new rule, if I buy a new rod then one old one has to go. Anybody interested in a Scott S3s 8 weight in great shape. I just picked up a new Heliply 8 weight.

    The big thing I took away from that is no matter what you have, unless you are using it, what good is it.
    Like he said, to be an artist, or an angler in this case, you have to be doing it.
    So what good it is the potential for stuff, if it’s not being used.
    So let’s get out there and use our stuff so we can be making art and catching fish!

    I’m in the middle of dissertation writing at the moment, so I haven’t listened yet.  I’m actually actively trying to come up with a title for the tome (and for each of the chapters that make it up), so I’ve got my eyes open for titles at the moment.  I plan to listen when I get a bit of free time, but from what I can gather based on comments and the good title, it sounds like a podcast with a point that should ring true for lots of people, esp. anglers.  Seems like as a group we like to over-purchase for our hobbies, seduced by the maybe and the future (or the past and the potential for recreating that past) the items can represent.  These kinds of emotions are stock in trade for manufacturers and ad people and have been forever.  

    Long answer to say this: I haven’t listened yet, but I plan to.  And I find the title and the concept very intriguing.   🙂
