MemberI have known about this forum for a while and have been lurking some until now..
I joined this forum in hopes of getting some good feedback on my fly fishing photography. I do something that probably is considered a little unconventional as far as traditional as far as fly fishing photography goes anyway.
I shoot with a Holga, with black and white film and in a square format, for the most part anyway…
I am attaching one photograph right now, which was one of my first fly fishing photographs. My fly fishing experience began nearly two years ago and have been doing photography for a lot longer than that.
That’s all for now..
Thanks!
Brian

MemberChad/Brian,
Perhaps one of the two of you could help me understand the fascination that many have with Holgas. Over the years, I have seen many sing their praises in web posts, and I dig the results, but I have never caught on to the fanfare. Education, s’il vous plait.Bad-ass pics, Brian!

MemberThanks for commenting Dave.
For me, it’s a matter of aesthetics I like the results I get from using such a rudimentary camera.Aug 9, 2009 at 4:39 am #68397
David AndersonMemberI like shots off the Holgas, they have a lot of emotion & feel and are sort of anti-geek..

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

MemberAnybody got a good link on where to find one? Chad, didn’t you post something a few months back about getting some yourself?

Chad SimcoxMemberYeah Dusty, Urban Outfitters had them for $9 last month in a 3 day sale. I’ve bought mine from Freestyle Photographic (when they were hard to find elsewhere a few years ago), and I think Adorama. Now it seems like they’re in every camera shop and trendy clothing store in town, usually at outrageous prices. Don’t pay more than $28 for one or you’re getting ripped off, unless it’s a special edition one.

Mike McKeownMemberHi Brian
I like this kind of stuff, really intresting aproach.
I think I will have to get myself one and go out and “play”.
How many rolls of film did you use to get the hang of the camera?
