The August addition of Art Fly is now live.  I have been working on a new style for the fly photography and this month’s theme is hands and hand-held flies.  The flies were all shot hand-held (no tripod) with the left hand and the camera was in the right hand.  The technique employed a fast shutter speed combined with a natural cloud sky background.  In addition to the flies I have been working with various fly tiers in the portable macro studio.  The technique incorporates close up techniques and is progressing nicely.  Kind of a blend between work and art. We are now able to capture high resolution tying sequences.  In the future you will see the full tutorial markups, but for the August edition of Art Fly only a few examples have been posted.

I could use a bit of advice here.  What are some topics in fly fishing other than fly tying and entomology that would be good topics to shoot with the macro setup?  Maybe rod building, or glues/epoxy techniques, or thread/feather selection?  These are a few ideas so far but honestly any input would be appreciated.

Love the Seaducer tut Neal. The August Art Fly looks good too , only one thing. It would be nicer if you change the file names of the images now you see the nikon filenames. Just to make it perfect 🙂

My choice for a next topic would be feather selection.
