This link is to one of the last images I have of my beloved Lab, Thunder. I lost him to cancer yesterday. My wife shot this using the Auto mode so all I have is a JPEG. Is the distortion due to heat or smoke from the fire? Is there anything that can be done to fix the image in PS?
Michael Phillippe . . . I am very sorry to hear your sad news. The thought of losing my dog wrenches my gut. Here is what I came up with from your original image. I’m sure others here can also help out with additional techniques. If you have the original file feel free to send it to me and we can see what else we can do.
Best,
Neal
Original
Modified (sharpened, luminized, blended). There is still more that can be done . . . let us know if this is the look you desire.
Not sure whats causing the problem. the guy on the left is nice and clean, the right half……………..
IMO the image is saveable, especially if someone whos good at selective colour reproduction/copying can work on it and do it without needing to be aggressive with noise cleaning. So no worries there.
I’ll see what I can do later today/tomorrow but this level manipulation is more agressive than I do, so no doubt someone whos practiced can do better.
Wow, that’s different – the heat and the flash have not mixed well and I don’t know if there’s much that can be done to fix it other than what Neals done above.
Thanks for sending it through, I’ll have a look at it in detail and see what I can do..
