Just got back from shooting a wind farm and got so jazzed about the images (and what I had to do to get them), that I had to post a few. Thought you might get a kick outta these. First, sunset and a lightning storm. (No composites, all one capture.)

Then the tall order. Climbing a 300ft turbine and holding it all together while I stood on top to get the money shots.

    OMG-I love my job!

    Excellent work, Doug, top quality.

Thanks Zach! The client liked the irony too. LOL.

If you would have told me a week ago I’d be sitting, then standing, on top of one of those things for work I would’a said you’re crazy…

Dayyyum.  Nice Doug – sunset shot is fantastic, as is the lightning shot.  Ever since I saw a “Dirty Jobs” when they did wind turbines, I’d never consider going up on one of those.

    Thanks again guys!

They’re actually not bad inside at the top (besides the 300ft ladder climb) as there’s no windows. Only when you poke your head out the top hatch do you realize what you’re standing on. That’s when the adrenaline and blood starts to pump…big time!

    Can’t wait to go back!

That is some propery cool stuff, nice one !! Must have been awesome to be at the top of one of those machines……..camera shake would have been a problem for me with all the adrenaline pumping through, I get that when fishing goes off sometimes.

    Are we all mad ?

I was on my way to a job in Cornwall (south west England) the other day, running a bit late, and I “saw” some very cool shots of wind turbines with mist swirling, sun rising etc, but because I was behind time I could not stop and try nailing them. I hate running late !!

Jesus, Doug you couldn’t pay me enough to do that and even if you could I’d probably be spending the entire time cleaning the front element of yesterdays dinner.

    Great job

    *KILLER* Douglas!

Wow – while I don’t weird out too much about heights, I think I’d have had a bit of the willies shooting from up there.

That said, I’ve noticed things that do weird me out a little (ie; spiders) don’t really at all when I’m looking at them through the lens. There’s an odd detachment that comes from viewing the world that way I guess.

The one with the lighting is is my favorite. Why did you show me that one yesterday?
