Yeah it’s possibly my favorite as well, along side one of the 3 above.
Id processed that Sunday after I’d put the post up here.

    I hear you Kendal.
I was in a bit of a funk through much of Feb/March. Up here in the frozen north theres not much to go after. It’s only been the last week or two I’ve been invigorated to get out and shoot stuff with a purpose.

Turkey Season opens in 4 weeks ( already hae some great Tom pics) and Trout opens the same week.

As a side note just got Aprils issue tonight and I have the cover (steelhead) and a full page inside (preseasonsteelhead) and some Turkey hunting related stuff.

Its enough to motivate me 🙂

I like.  The shots with the garter snake are especially incredible.  I know very little about photography.  I tend to be stimulated by wildlife shots that capture some unusual or rarely seen behavior.  That snake shot is the shit.

Have you got any shots of the snake being devoured?

    Deleted probably 20 to 30.
Not because they weren’t nice, or technicals (exposure, sharpness etc) weren’t good or anything but because ones, much the same as the next.

My culling procedures are pretty brutal and ruthless.
I kept this one over the others because
    a) The BG is nice
    b) It shows the entire snake (no elements bird or snake clipped)

Thanks!  It actually helps answer the question I was interested in too–would the bird start at the head of the snake?

    G

Every raptor I’ve encountered so far, and that’s falcons, hawks, eagles, and owls, have all started by eating the brains.
