John BennettMemberMy host was back up sooner than expected.
Eric. the following are some samples of images where I applied a traditonal ND, Grad, Split tone type filter to the image in “Post”. Later tonight or tomorrow I’ll either do a couple new before/afters of provide the befores for the these.
Grad ND and some polarisation to bricng out the clouds. In the original they were/are sort of washed out

Grad ND
I lightened the lower tonalities and darkened the uppers a bit. I took this shot with my CP on and as a result the upper left was consiredably more effected by the polarisation the the right. By using a filter in post I was able to change the horizon…or tilt it if you will to balance it out some

This pic was taken at about 6:15 am. Its not going anywhere so I had some fun and enhanced the sky with both a grad and skylight filter

Fill flash did an ok job on the boat, the sky is ok. I added a a little a grad ND just to try and balance it a bit more. If you look at the reflection on the motors cowl you can actually see the sun cresting the horizon

See below. Grad ND to darken the upper tonalities a bit and a bit of warmth to highlight it a bit.

This pic as posted earlier. Basically used a GRAD ND to darken the upper tonalities a bit and added some warmth

This pic theres a subtle vignette bluring around the edges

Ditto but its more pronounced

When I get the chance I’ll try to add some before/after of the Grad or grad nd filters

MemberNice job John. Man that is nice to be able to apply those filters in post. What program are you using to do that in, NIK software?
As a former bass fisherman, I can attest that you really captured the feel of bass fishing with those images.

John BennettMemberHi John, thanks.
yeah these are all with NIK Softawares filters that are available in “Colour Effects Pro” 3.0.There are 3 versions. Standard, select and complete. The complete version has 52 filters. Select has 35 and standard has 20 ( i think). Of those I mainly use about 5 and so bought the “select” version. A complete list of filter effects as well as whats available in each is here

David AndersonMemberThanks for posting those, they’re very interesting.
I’m still dithering about Lightroom, but the filters may push me over the line, ND’s and grads were very useful in my medium format film years.

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

John BennettMemberUploaded the raw file from few of these images. Nothings been done to the raw other than resize and if I remembered a little output sharpening. The post adjustments were mentioend above but are predominantly grad nd or split nd and in a couple a second filter effect (skylight or polarisation)
