There are too many to list.
That said why not consider one of the waterproof ones like the pentax WPs? Good for you when on the water, good for snorkleing, kids in a pool, etc. So aside from removing any worry about water damage when out fishing, it can do some things others cameras cant.

I think the canon G9 just dropped to $499.

I’d second the Pentax WP. They’re billed as shock-proof too, and since the zoom is internal (doesn’t extend out) the chances of breaking that are less. ~ $250

Get her the Canon SD750…..7.1 megapixel for about $175. Read Ken Rockwell’s review at http://www.kenrockwell.com. I have one and love it. It has a larger lcd screen (3 inches I think) to chimp your photos.
    From KR’s site:

    “….Canon SD750

If you want a fantastic compact camera with superb quality, convenience and a huge screen, I tell my friends and family to get the Canon SD750 for a mere $170.

The Canon SD750 has a very high quality metal case that seems like titanium, fantastic image quality, an excellent lens, a huge 3″ screen that fills the back of the camera, and sells today for only $170! “

You’ll then have enough cheese left over for a Pentax Optio for the fishing trips.

My vote is for the Olympus – Stylus 8.0MP.

My vote is for the Olympus – Stylus 8.0MP.  Shock proof, water proof, and under $300.  If you buy it at Bestbuy you can get the 4 year no questions asked warranty for about $50.

These cameras work great for a lot of folks.. however I’ve had two of the SW’s fail on me.. one flooded in a couple of feet of water.. and the other had so many bad pixels out of the box it was just unbeliveable…

I’ll keep my fingers crossed about mine then.
