Awesome, I really like all the stuff I’ve seen out of that lens.

I reallreallreally hope Canon bring out something like it in this next round of new lenses..

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

    Aaron,

Out of curisoity, what were your respective apertures on the pictures above?

Are you using this on a DX or FX camera?

    Aaron,

Out of curisoity, what were your respective apertures on the pictures above?  Are wide angle 2.8 lenses different from other lenses in that they still give a large depth of field at 2.8?  Otherwise, it would seem that a wide angle at 2.8 would not be very useful for landscapes where you want everything in view to be in sharp focus?

    In order: F/ 2.8,5.6,2.8

Thanks John, sorry I don’t have a good response for you on the big app question.

Yeah, Aaron, that was my understanding too until recently.  As I have been reading, I learned that it seems that your maximum sharpness is somewhere in the middle range of aperture… say 2 stops less than wide open to about f8.  Apertures smaller than this achieve large DOF, but the image quality may suffer due to diffraction.

It seems to me, from what I have read so far, that the maximum sharpness with maximum DOF, would be achieved by using the best part of a particular lens, say f 5.6 – 8.0 set at the hyperfocal distance (you may be able to go larger aperture with a 2.8 lens?)  But all of this is what I am still trying to resolve in practice.
