    The river near my house gets some pretty good ice chunks floating when the temps dive below the 20 ‘ s. Recently, though, we’ve been watching ice floes accumulate more and more. Here’s a 4 ft solid sheet of Ice that has built up in a deep pool below a respectable Class II rapid. I expect that polar bears may be migrating here soon.

    TN NC Border…a couple miles downstream after the AT crosses the Nolichucky after the Gorge.
