Hey, trying to help out a fellow shooter. He just got two new Mark III bodies and he’s getting file corruption randomly. Just wondering if anyone has seen this yet.

I’ve seen files stuffed like that when the card is pulled while writing.

Is he aware he has to wait for the card to finnish writing data before he takes it out ?

Also, does it happen on all his cards or just one ?

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

These files are amongst many ok ones, occurring at random times.

Is the problem on just one card or everything he shoots ?

John I know quite a few MKIII shooters and none of them have had a problem like this. Like the others my inclination might be that its the card(s).

How long has he been using the memory cards?

The cards are just as new as the cameras. All brand new 8gig Extremes. I’m at a loss to help him and Canon is making any effort either. Amazing, in the past two months they’ve purchased about $50grand worth of Canon gear and Canon tells him it’s a software problem.

IMO There’s almost no chance it’s the camera.

The card on the other hand would be suspect #1 – and he wouldn’t be the first guy to have a problem with the Extreme cards – I stopped using them in favor of Lexar UDMS’s because of problems.

Card readers can also cause a lot of trouble in the earlier models, though I haven’t had a problem with one in a couple years myself.
