I bet there’re a lot of guys on here with their eyes on something special. I’ve been in such a hunting-oriented mode that I haven’t thought much about fly fishing gear, but I’ve got my eyes on a waterproof MFC briefcase box for my striper flies.

    Travis –

At least after the great hair fad of 2011 those saddles are now once again available.

Gransfors Bruks small axe. Been wanting/needing one for a while now.
So many uses around camp regardless if it is fishing or hunting season.

Jeff there’s a place here in Atlanta (not sure where you are) down in the Virginia Highlands that has their entire collection of axes, including a couple that I swear are Viking battle axes re-named for some non-warlike purpose. It’s a wood working shop across the street from the Highland Tap.

I am hoping for a small lathe to turn reel seats and grips.

Zach, Harfin is an Aussie made reel about to hit the market (look up Harfin Reels Australia on Facebook). First run of #7/8 sized reels will be out by Christmas and most have been pre-sold.

Here’s some photos of one of the prototypes we fished in September. Since this trip the design has been tweaked to reduce quite a lot of weight (not that these were heavy to begin with!) and they brought their anodizing in-house and improved the quality off the planet. The first two shots are from Ashleigh Dunsmore’s Facebook page, of the new anodize finish on the production reels.

Totally sealed stacked multi-disc drag that is butter smooth, large arbor narrow spool design. I believe Ash will be offering custom colour combinations.

    Best Regards,

Before anyone asks, that’s a reflection of a fish on the drag knob.

Chris I must admit to wanting one of the Harfin 5/6s for a new fiberglass rod I have. Hope Ash will crank them into production soon after the new year.

In terms of fishing gear for Christmas there isn’t too much I need to scramble for anymore. Hopefully some tying gear will make the stocking though.

Not really asking for this. More like wishing. But as far as having my eye on something special, this is it:

Thanks Zach. I’m in SE Alberta, 2 1/2hrs East of the Crowsnest River.
Found there is a company in Ontario that carries their stuff as well.
My wife took care of getting the GFB Small Forest axe for me. Very cool item.

Hey, Did everyone get what they hoped for??

We purchased a new StealthCraft 16′ ATB in December (last drift boat was destroyed when a drunk driver hit it while it was parked). Wife never really buys me anything so I guess this counts. And buying her yoga pants is a present to me anyway.
