"Guided Ballistic" Deer-Hunting

Remington is apparently working on a “firing solution” technology in conjunction with the U.S. military. The gun would carry microchips and, obviously, some pretty crazy looking hardware. In big game hunting, you would “tag” or flash a target, then allow the gun to compute and plot an optimal kill solution (I presume it has silhouettes for each species). You then would track the animal while depressing the trigger, and the gun would “surprise” you by firing at the exact moment you placed the crosshairs where it had computed a solution.

In other words, you couldn’t miss. It would be a lot more like hunting on a video game but it would surely decrease the numbers of animals that run off and die.

Hunting is a different sport from target shooting, someone at Remington might want to review the two definitions.

I always thought hand granades would work well. You would be amazed at how much they will increase your catch rate in fishing. I would think the same would work for deer hunting. Of course claymore mines would work better. All you would have to do is listen for the explosion and go out a collect your kill.

Yup. I know more than a few who will talk up a nice deer taken, some with pictures, that they took during archery season elaborating how they got one with their bow only to find out they were using a crossbow.
I have no problem with the use of a crossbow, some hunters, for different reasons, usually physical, have to use one.
The basis of it though….there is a hellu’va difference between pointing a weapon with a stock and a scope than pulling, holding and releasing an arrow accurately, no comparison IMHO.

I just wish someone would come up with a pair of glasses that would allow me to see fish regardless of water clarity or depth. 😉 If they do I hope they are a publicly held company because I will buy stock.
