One of my favorite activities is backpacking in to explore High Mountain Lakes. I would love to see / learn about other’s High Mountain favorites. Here are some of Mine:
Angel Lake, Idaho

In Angel Lake it has plenty 8″ to 12″, Cuts & Bookies. There were even a few Goldens such as this one. <img

The White Clouds in Idaho are amazing, so many lakes and not enough time.

My Brother’s West Slope Cut

My West Slope (Probably the only time I have ever landed one bigger than my Brother.)

The Cloud Peak Wilderness Area in Wyoming has a several groups of chain lakes. If you wander far enough you can find a lake that has these Golden Trout.
My Brother

My Golden

And one of the Best Family Friendly destinations (Approx 2 1/2 mile Hike, plus up) Fishpole Lake, Idaho
We explored it two years ago, and then this year I took my 3 oldest Kids for an Overnight-er.

My Fishing Buddy (Father-in-Law). Mostly 8″ to 12″ Henry Lake Cuts, and a few in the 18″ to 20″ range

Kids and myself (notice the hat) at the top of one of the surrounding peaks.

Marie, my 6 year old girl would not leave my side. I think she hugged and gave kisses to each fish prior to letting it go. My Boys were good with one to two fish and then off they would go climbing and throwing rocks. (you can see them on the skyline in this picture)

The next morning there was no wind, so the two boys were able to cast and hook their own fish. Marie wanted a turn every other fish. When it was time to hike out, she had to catch just one more fish … about 6 times. A trip I will always remember.

Look forward to seeing some of your High Country Lakes.
