Mark SchaferMemberI’ve been reading articles on building a light box. Just wondering what some of you are using.
The construction seems straightforward but I would appreciate any pointers or even some pictures.Mark..

MemberI was going to start a similar thread until I found yours. I have no answers, but maybe some thoughts…
With adequate lighting, could one be made with a black and/or graphite backdrop?Dusty

MemberHaven’t actually made or used one of these, but I did run into this article in a recent MacWorld magazine. Sounds interesting:

MemberMark,
Thanks man; I had been thinking of PVC as my dad is a plumber. I just did not know how practical it would be. I like the idea of diff. colors for backgrounds, depending on the subject. Now, I just need to learn how to use the Macro on my Nikon point and shoot. Despite my male tendencies, I actually had to get out the instruction booklet. Mon mauvais!

MemberScott,
The link you gave is also worth looking at as it had some helpful hints such as elevating the subject inside said box by means of a straightened clothing hanger.Someone, and maybe I will, should put these concepts together and see what comes out. Did y’all see that pic of Zach’s? Anyone know about the construction?

The Itinerant AnglerIt was a cardboard box with tissue paper taped to the sides (I cut holes in the sides).
Check out a blog called Strobist – lots of great tips there.

MemberFor a cheap alternative to building a box, check out the Quanteray studio setup that Ritz sells for $99
nice thing is that it folds down flat for storage.

Mark SchaferMemberThanks for all the information, I think I will start with the simple cardboard box method.
Being a former carpenter my original idea was way over built and would have necessitated an addition to the house.
Zach’s tip about http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/ is worth checking out although most of It is over my head
Mark..
