Looks like I will be headed to Sidney at some point this fall can anyone point me in the right direction on what rivers to study up on I should have 3-4 days to myself, but I might also wait until bird season and try to do both any suggestions would be appreciated

Mark if you do a cast and blast you have got to report back. Is that lab pup in the photo ready to get a mouthful of pheasant feathers yet?

A trip report would be a definite, that pup had his first solo flush, shot and retrieve at 6 months for my then 14 year old son last November in SD, this year will be fun we also have an 11 year old lab that is all business in the field Zayne is learning from a good teacher. I’ll see if I can remember how to post pictures and put a few up.

I have found this useful. It helps to have a float tube or kick boat. No firsthand knowledge of the rivers though.

You’re going to be an hour from Big Mac – Lake McConaughay – east of Sydney. Below the dam is Lake Ogallala, where the state stocks rainbows. I’ve not fished it, but researched it briefly before a spring trip to visit friends in Ogallala. Mostly a powerbait fishery I’d guess, but the lake looks great for a kayak or belly boat as not that much of the shoreline accessible to the bait anglers. There is a fly fishing club there, maybe they could help if you can find them on Google.

    Thanks Randy,Craig
That’s a great start, and from the look of things I won’t need to drag the drift raft out there the first trip.
